Alabama inmates do mannequin challenge; state investigates

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Inmates in an Alabama prison are taking part in the "mannequin challenge" sweeping the country, using an illegal cellphone.

Al.com reports that the men wearing prisoner clothing labeled Alabama Department of Corrections shot a nearly minute-long video of themselves freezing in various positions. They can be seen staging a fight, doing push-ups, reading on their cots and praying, both Christians and Muslims.

A spokesman for the Alabama Department of Corrections, Bob Horton, tells the newspaper they are investigating where the video came from. Horton said the department has confiscated more than 3,000 illegal cellphones this year from its prisons, which are being investigated by the U.S. Department of Justice.
