YouTubers to Interview Obama After State of the Union Address

by Jay Tilles

Mr. Obama is down with the kids.

After Tuesday's State of the Union address, President Obama, the leader of the free world, will field questions from representatives of the online audience, represented by popular YouTubers Bethany Mota, GloZell Green, and Hank Green.

Bethany Mota is a 19-year old who offers tips in hair and makeup. Touting more than 3 million subscribers and more than 570 million views, GloZell  is well, a comedian of sorts. She bills herself as "The Mother of the Internet." Green however considers himself a nerd. His ability to break down complex social and political issues so his audience of more than 2.5 million subscribers can understand them, has apparently earned him a spot in front of the President.

The three Internet stars will interview Mr. Obama Thursday, January 22 in front of a live, online audience using the very platform that made them famous, YouTube. Questions will also be culled from their fans who have submitted them using the hashtag #YouTubeAsksObama.

"This continues efforts by the President and his administration to speak directly to the American people online," explained the White House in a release today.
