Young Man Wanted In Royal Oak Car Wash Armed Robbery

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Royal Oak police are searching for a suspect who robbed the Jax Kar Wash on Woodward Ave.

Investigators say a young man — armed with a silver and black handgun — confronted the manager who was alone counting the daily deposit Tuesday, just after 7:30 p.m.

That's when the suspect allegedly stole that employee's wallet and an unknown amount of the business' cash.

There were no shots fired and no one was injured.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s, around 5 feet, 9 inches tall, wearing a face mask, dark pants, red shirt, blue and yellow Pittsburgh Pirates baseball cap and blue gloves.

He fled on foot westbound on 11 Mile Road and was followed by a K-9 team into Berkley where the track was lost, police said.

Anyone who knows the suspect or who has any information about this crime is asked to call Royal Oak Police Lt. David Clemens at 248-246-3456
