Xfinity Offers Tips For Super Bowl Party Hosting, Viewing Options

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Xfinity is providing football fans with tips on how to host the perfect Super Bowl party for techies and non-techies alike.

With nearly 90 percent of U.S. households telling Nielsen they will watch the game at a home or a relative's house, and with the rise of viewers following social media during the game, there are some preparations party hosts can take to prepare for a super experience.

"With renewed confidence in the economy and the outlook for 2015, consumers are looking forward to some good old-fashioned fun with their friends and family to celebrate the big game," said NRF President and CEO Matthew Shay in a release.

Leading up to the game, Xfinity customers can view 30-minute highlight recaps On Demand of the previous 48 Super Bowls and be well-versed in the history of the game.

Party hosts may also want to check their Wi-Fi service for guests who may want to post party photos, comment on game or check social media posts. Bryan Mapes, from Xfinity, recommends placing routers at least 5-7 feet off the ground in the center of the home, preferably on the first floor.

They should also reboot the router the day of the game to ensure things are working smoothly.

The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and will offer both an English and Spanish feed.

With an average of 17 people attending the average party, hosts may want to consider having extra televisions placed throughout the house, or computers which can stream the game or provide scoreboard updates, to ensure not a single play is missed.

And for fans who arrive late, or if the hosts are expecting a delivery of food, they can utilize home security system to monitor who may be at the front door.

Services including Xfinity Home offer live streams from security cameras that can be accessed on televisions or mobile devices.
