Would-Be Thieves Foiled After Ramming Into ATMs

DETROIT (WWJ) - Thieves used a rental truck to try to grab a couple of ATMs from a bank on Detroit's west side.

It happened around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday at the Bank of America on Grand River Avenue just east of the Southfield Freeway.

Police say five suspects used a U-Haul truck to smash into the bank's exterior ATMs. The collision left damage to the machines and the building, but the suspects weren't able to get their hands on any cash.

The suspects remain at large.

An investigation is ongoing.
