Workshop Helps Immigrants Create Videos For History Project

DEARBORN (AP) - A Detroit-area workshop seeks to help immigrants create videos for a national history project.

The workshop is Thursday and Friday at the Arab American National Museum in Dearborn as part of an effort led by the University of Minnesota's Immigration History Research Center.

"Immigrant Stories" is funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. The project helps people create short digital stories using images, text, music, video and audio. Participants are encouraged to tell the story of a personal or family immigration experience.

The stories are preserved by the Immigration History Research Center Archives at the University of Minnesota and shared via the Digital Public Library of America. Those involved in the project say more than 200 stories already have been collected.
