Woman, Teen Get Probation For Vandalizing Football Field With Vulgar Image

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP (AP) - A 51-year-old woman and a teenager have been placed on probation for using chemicals to burn the shape of male genitalia on a high school football field in Monroe County.

Judge Daniel White called it a "hair-brained idea" that caused $32,000 in damage last September at the Bedford High School field.

Julie Baumgartner and 17-year-old Daniel Rinckey were placed on probation for two years Thursday and ordered to perform 29 days of community service. They had pleaded guilty to malicious destruction of property.

The Monroe News says the damage disrupted many events, including a football game.

Rinckey's record will be erased if he stays out of trouble while on probation. The judge called it a "gift." The case of a third person is being handled in Juvenile Court.
