Woman Mistaken For Man Files Lawsuit After Being Pursued In Restroom

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit woman has filed suit against the owners of a Greektown restaurant after allegedly being mistaken as a man in a woman's restroom -- and then being physically thrown out on the street.

The alleged incident occurred in Fishbones restaurant back in January, when Cortney Bogorad of Detroit says she went to use the bathroom after dinner.

That's when, she claims, someone started shouting whatever man is in the restroom "needs to come out right now."

In a filing in Wayne County Circuit Court Wednesday, Bogorad says she repeatedly told a security guard that she was indeed a woman but she claims she was picked up "against her will" and physically thrown out of the restaurant onto Monroe Street ... receiving physical injuries.

She is suing for an amount above $25,000.

Neither Bogorad nor management at Fishbones would speak to WWJ to comment on the story.
