Woman Killed When Car Crashes Into Tree, 3-Year-Old Inside Wasn't Wearing Seat Belt

DETROIT (WWJ) Traveling south on Canyon, a black Honda sedan struck a tree near Warren, killing the female driver.

Police said a 3-year-old girl in the vehicle suffered non-fatal injuries

Preliminary results show both occupants of the car were not wearing seatbelts, police told WWJ.

Photos show the total devastation of the car, twisted into a smoldering heap of steel, with what looks like the entire front end missing. Part of the tree trunk was laid bare from the impact, WWJ's Ron Dewey reported.

There were no skid marks leading to the point of impact, and the vehicle was obviously traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed into the tree.

There's no word on yet on whether the crash was related to drugs or alcohol.
