Woman Dies After Crashing 'Speeding' Car Into Light Pole

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a Detroit woman was killed when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a light pole.

The accident happened around 12:30 a.m. Friday on E. Davison Street at Conant Street, just south of McNichols Road where Davison turns into a freeway.

Police say 27-year-old Tiera Lynn Warren was traveling eastbound on Davison when she "lost control due to her excessive speed" and crashed into a light pole.

Warren -- who did not have her seatbelt on properly, according to police -- was declared dead at the scene.

No other injuries were reported.

It's not yet clear if drugs or alcohol are factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
