Woman In Critical Condition After Hit-And-Run In Ferndale

FERNDALE (WWJ) -- A woman is in critical condition following a hit-and-run accident in Ferndale early Saturday morning.

The driver ran into a group of people crossing Woodward near Nine Mile Rd. just after 2 a.m., police told WWJ Newsradio 950.

The driver had a green light, but it didn't matter because there was a group of people in the road, Lt. William Wilson said.

"This car traveled right into the crowd of people," Wilson said. "It looks like just as it hit the woman the driver tapped his breaks then continued on.

Surveillance cameras caught a glimpse of the suspect's vehicle, which could be a tan or gold Buick or Mercury, Wilson said.

The 30-year-old victim was taken to an area hospital and listed in critical condition. There is no word of any other injuries.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Ferndale police at 248-541-3650.
