Woman Reported Missing After Leaving Detroit Receiving Hospital In Pajamas Found Safe
DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say a 44-year-old woman who was reported missing after leaving a hospital in the city's midtown district has been found safe.
Early Tuesday morning Detroit police issued a missing persons alert for Chelissa Thoran, saying she was last seen around 2 p.m. Monday by staff at Detroit Receiving Hospital, located in the 4200 block of St. Antoine just west of I-75.
But hours later, Thoran's husband Edward said his wife was safe and sound at their home.
Apparently, it was all a huge miscommunication.
Edward Thoran told WWJ's Laura Bonnell he thought his wife had been discharged Monday after she received treatment at Detroit Receiving Hospital. When she didn't return home from her appointment as expected, he reported her missing.
As it turns out, Edward Thoran said staff at Detroit Receiving Hospital actually transferred his wife to another hospital and he just never got the message.
Chelissa Thoran's disappearance drew concern because, according to police, she suffers from schizophrenia and was also only dressed in pajamas and a black winter coat at the time.
