Woman Found Stabbed, Burned To Death Inside Detroit Home

DETROIT (WWJ) A suspicious fire discovered this morning on Detroit's east side might have been set to hide a more sinister crime, according to WWJ 950's Charlie Langton.

Live on the scene, Langton said a woman was found stabbed multiple times inside the house on Parker street, near Van Dyke and Gratiot.

Her body was set on fire.

The victim has been identified as Grace Hughes, the resident of the home.

She had lived there for most of her 50  years, friends said.

Her nephew Ricky Sail said he couldn't figure it out, saying she had fallen on hard times recently, but he couldn't imagine her ever running into trouble like this.

"She was happy, didn't say nothing was wrong, she didn't have no problems with a spouse or anything like that so we had no clue, obviously, that this would happen," Sail said.

Police are investigating, but have few clues, Langton said.
