Woman Found Dead After Neighbors Hear Gunshots, Screaming

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities have more questions than answers after an unknown woman was found dead on Detroit's east side.

Police discovered the woman's body around 3:45 a.m. Saturday in the 20000 block of Barlow, in a neighborhood just south of 8 Mile Road between Hoover and Schoenherr.

According to police, neighbors called 911 and reported hearing gunshots and a woman screaming, followed by a single shot and then silence. Officers responded to the area and found the woman with obvious gunshot wounds. She was declared dead at the scene.

At this point, investigators say they have practically no other information.

The woman has not yet been identified. No arrests have been made.

The shooting happened on the same street where a 17-year-old girl and a 27-year-old man were shot during what police called a drug deal gone wrong, around 8:30 p.m. Friday. The teen was last reported in stable condition, while the man is in critical condition. No arrests have been made.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police at 313-267-4600 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
