Woman Dies After Her Vehicle Crosses Median; Officer Hit On Scene Afterward
DETROIT (WWJ) -- One woman is dead following a car crash in Detroit, a police spokesman told WWJ. The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. Friday evening on 8 Mile Rd. and Hickory, east of Schoenherr.
The woman was traveling westbound on 8 Mile when she lost control of her vehicle, crossed the median, hit trees and signs and ended up on the eastbound side. She was pronounced dead at St. John Hospital.
Meanwhile, as police investigated the crash, a suspected drunk driver hit a female officer on the scene after crashing through a barricade. The officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The drunk driver was arrested.
