Police: Woman Carjacked By Masked Men At Detroit Gas Station
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are looking for two armed carjackers who attacked a woman at a gas station on the city's northwest side.
The incident happened around 6 a.m. Friday at a Marathon gas station at 7 Mile Road and Ferguson Street, between the Southfield Freeway and Greenfield Road.
According to police, a woman had stopped at the station to fill up when she was approached by two men wearing masks. The men held her at gunpoint and demanded her money and keys before taking off in her 2007 gray Ford Edge.
Police are now searching for the suspects, who are considered armed and dangerous. The license plate on the woman's car is "CPR 1354."
Jamal Hayes, a manager at the gas station, told WWJ's Charlie Langton that he has some doubts about what police are saying.
"I'm not for sure it was (a carjacking). The lady said that she was being followed when she came into the store. So, she didn't say anything of a carjacking at the time. I didn't observe anything on the camera, because I watch the camera as I'm working all night and I didn't see anything. If there was, I would have tried to help her," Hayes said.
Corey Wilson, who works at the Marathon, said either way, the situation doesn't surprise him.
"It's happened before, you know, it's a neighborhood thing," Wilson said. "I'm not really worried, but today I'm watching the house to make sure nobody else's car gets taken."
An investigation is ongoing.
