Woman Accused Of Stabbing Mom At GM Tech Center To Get Psychiatric Evaluation [VIDEO]
WARREN (WWJ/AP) - A woman accused of stabbing her mother at General Motors' technical center in Warren will receive psychiatric evaluation tied to her case.
A judge referred 32-year-old Chavonne Taylor to the state Center for Forensic Psychiatry on Tuesday to determine whether she's competent to stand trial and criminally responsible for her behavior at the time of the incident.
Taylor is accused of stabbing her mother, 52-year-old Stephanie Kerr, with a steak knife on Feb. 10 at the GM complex in Warren. The attack was stopped by Didarul "Paco" Sarder, a valet supervisor who pulled out his handgun and told the woman to drop the knife.
Taylor is charged with assault with intent to murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent.
Sarder received a special proclamation by Warren Mayor Jim Fouts last week for saving Kerr's life.
