Witnesses Say Man Killed On M-14 Stepped In Front Of Semi Truck

SUPERIOR TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A 58-year old Canton man died Tuesday morning when he was hit by a semi truck along eastbound M-14 in Washtenaw County.

Witnesses told Michigan State Police investigators the truck was traveling eastbound on M-14, near Curtis Road in Superior Township, when it passed a car parked on the left shoulder.  At that time, witnesses said, the man stepped into the path of the truck and was killed.

The eastbound lanes of M-14 were closed for more than three hours, between Ford Road and Gotfredson, for an investigation by the State Troopers and the MSP Accident Reconstructionist with help from Superior Township firefighters and Ann Arbor Police. All lanes reopened to traffic at around 10:30 a.m.

The victim's family asked that his name not be released.

No one else was injured. An investigation continues.
