Wintry Conditions Lead To Crashes, Closures Of 2 Freeways

DETROIT (WWJ) - Officials have shut down two Detroit-area freeways Saturday morning due to crashes that might have been caused by wintry weather conditions.

Northbound I-75 at Outer Drive and southbound M-39, the Southfield Freeway, at Rotunda are closed due to accidents.

Circumstances surrounding both crashes weren't immediately clear and it's not known at this time how badly anyone might have been injured.

Temperatures Saturday morning hovered below the freezing mark with scattered snow showers across the area, leaving roadways slick and icy.

Motorists are being urged to avoid both freeways until further notice.
