Winning 'Lucky For Life' Lottery Ticket Sold At Troy Gas Station
TROY (WWJ) - Someone in metro Detroit is in line to receive a lifetime of cash -- $25,000 a year -- after hitting it big playing the multi-state "Lucky For Life" lottery game.
Officials say a $2 ticket bought at the Shell gas station on East Long Lake Road in Troy matched the five white balls drawn Monday night, 08-10-16-22-25, to win the big prize.
The lucky winner has two choices to collect their winnings: Annual payments for a minimum of 20 years or life, whichever is greater; or a one-time lump sum cash payment of $390,000.
It's the sixth time since the game debuted on Jan. 27 that a Michigan winner has won a lifetime prize in the Lucky For Life game, which is played in 14 other states and the District of Columbia.
Players in Michigan have won more lifetime prizes than players in any other state, including six $25,000 a year for life winners, and 45 $5,000 winners. Each Lucky For Life drawing is producing about 15,000 winners on average in Michigan.
The winner should contact the Michigan Lottery Public Relations Division at 517-373-1237 to schedule an appointment to collect the big prize. The prize must be claimed at the Lottery's headquarters in Lansing. Lucky For Life tickets are valid for one year from the drawing date.
