Winless Mount Clemens High School Football Team Ends Season Early; Not Enough Players

MOUNT CLEMENS (AP) — A winless high school football team in Macomb County has forfeited the last two games of the season because of a lack of players.

Mount Clemens was down to 12 or 13 players due to injuries and academic issues. Coach Quentin Hines, citing safety, says it's better to simply end the season.

The school's homecoming game was supposed to be played Friday against Center Line. Mount Clemens doesn't have a junior varsity team.

It's Hines' first year as head coach. He says he's still confident about the future of the football program.
