Will The Tigers Fire Ausmus? CBS Sports Gives It A 91% Chance

The Detroit Tigers are currently on a three-game winning streak after back-to-back wins over the Minnesota Twins.

All the talk has been about Brad Ausmus lately, with many wanting Ausmus to be fired and replaced. The only question remains: Who would replace him?

Last week I blogged about how I didn't think it would be a smart move to fire Ausmus. Since 2000, 54 managers have been fired mid-season and only four teams have gone on to appear in the playoffs.

I still firmly believe that firing Ausmus won't do anything for this season. In the years coming up sure, it could improve the team, but it does nothing for the 2016 season. Aren't fans supposed to care about the hear and now?

CBS Sports on the other hand doesn't have the same thought process.

Thursday they published an article titled, "From Brad Ausmus to Joe Girardi, here are the next MLB managers who could be fired."

First on their list is Brad Ausmus.

There's also the matter of Ausmus being a questionable tactical skipper, the Tigers being in fourth place, and, oh, by the way, those pesky rumors from last fall that the Tigers were going to replace Ausmus with Ron Gardenhire. Ausmus has the reputation of being a good baseball man -- which manager doesn't? -- but it would be a surprise if he finishes out the season as Detroit's navigator.

They based their choices on a "random number generator" which they are calling "Randy."

"Randy" doesn't really have much faith in Ausmus, they list Ausmus at 91% chance of him being fired. 91% seems that it will be inevitable that Ausmus won't be managing the Tigers at the end of the 2016 season. I believe that Ausmus does wind up managing at the end of the season, that will mean the team wound up having a successful season and Bad Brad could be here for years to come.

The other highest dismissal rate is 52% and belongs to Cincinnati Reds manager Bryan Price whose team has a 15-24 record.
