Westbound I-696 Closed At Lodge Due To Overturned Semi

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A busy stretch of I-696 in Oakland County is shut down due to a rollover crash involving a semi truck.

Westbound I-696 was completely closed, as of 4 p.m., at M-10 the Lodge.

WWJ's Randy Bhirdo said the semi rolled over just past Telegraph Road in the mid-afternoon on Friday.

Police are forcing motorists off onto Northwestern Highway. To get back on, Bhirdo said, just take that past Telegraph and then get back on 696 just past the accident scene.

Traffic was backed as far as Evergreen Road, so expect delays if you're headed that way.

It's unclear if anyone was injured or what caused the crash.

Police and emergency crews remain on the scene as an investigation continues.
