West Bloomfield home most likely a total loss after large fire

WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - Authorities are investigating after a fire erupted at a West Bloomfield home early Tuesday, officials said.

According to West Bloomfield Fire Marshal Byron Turnquist, the department received a report of a fire at about 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at a house on Commerce Road.

The large, extensive fire ripped through the home, which authorities say is most likely a total loss.

Five people and three pets were inside the home at the time of the fire. Authorities say one man sustained burns, and one cat was unaccounted for.

The West Bloomfield Fire Department asked drivers to avoid the area this morning as Commerce Road was closed between Indian Trail and Three Lakes Lane.

The investigation is ongoing.

No other information has been released at this time.
