Wayne County Court Rolls Out Web Videos For DIY Divorces

DETROIT (AP) — Considering a divorce? There are online videos for that.

Wayne County Circuit Court says it received a state grant to create and post videos for people who plan to pursue a divorce without a lawyer. There are videos at the court's website for couples with children and without children.

In nearly 70 percent of divorces in Michigan, one party doesn't have a lawyer. Judge Susan Hubbard says it's a "difficult process" to navigate.

Judge Kathleen McCarthy says the court is committed to giving people "fair and complete access" to the court system.

The videos are posted under the Family/Domestic tab on the court's website at http://www.3rdcc.org . They might be added to the Michigan Legal Help and Michigan Judicial Institute websites.
