Waterspout Spotted On Lake St. Clair [PHOTOS]

GROSSE POINTE (WWJ) - Police were called to the shores of Lake St. Clair Thursday morning to deal with traffic backup caused by gawkers taking photos of a waterspout.

WWJ Tipster Ken Peirce said he was driving along Lake Shore Road near Moran Road in Grosse Pointe Farms when he spotted what looked like a tornado forming over the lake.

"I realized it really was a funnel cloud, it was a real waterspout," Peirce told WWJ's Laura Bonnell. "My son and I were driving along and saw it. It was really thin and long and then it started to go back up into the cloud."

Peirce said so many people stopped to photograph the spout, police were called in to help direct traffic.
