Warm Temps In December Continue To Break Weather Records

DETROIT (WWJ) - Some people are loving the unusually warm weather but some find it unsettling.

After breaking records temperatures on Saturday, the Detroit area appears to be poised to do the same on Sunday.

The National Weather Service says 61 degrees was recorded about 1 p.m. at Detroit Metropolitan Airport. That tops the record 60 degrees for Dec. 13 that was set in 1881.

Meteorologists say the unseasonably warm temperatures partly are due to warm, moist air moving northwest from the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico.

Check the CBS Detroit weather page for the extended forecast and up-to-the-minute information.
