#WalkOffSquirrel Stops Action During Tigers Game At Comerica

DETROIT (WWJ) - The Tigers game was called to a halt in the eighth inning on Thursday at Comerica Park by a squirrel.

The black squirrel created a buzz from fans at the park ... and on twitter ... when it jumped into the Tigers' dugout and appeared to go in the clubhouse, then returned to the field after play had resumed.

Outfielder Tyler Collins told 97.1 the Ticket's Jeff Rieger that it's one of those rare occurrences in baseball that you get to enjoy.

"I thought it was pretty funny - I tried to feed him some seeds but then he got scared and ran off," said Collins. "He disappeared in left field somewhere."

Tigers catcher Alex Avilia was entertained.

"I was right in front of it -- I didn't think I was going to lure it into a garbage can with my good charms or anything like that," said Avilia.

In the end, the squirrel, dubbed #WalkOffSquirrel on social media, seemed to give the Tigers just the pause needed before going on to beat Kansas City on Ian Kinsler's 2-run, walk-off home run.
