Special Election Approaches For Public Safety Millages In Plymouth

PLYMOUTH (WWJ) -- There is a special election this Tuesday in Plymouth. Public safety millages are up for renewal and the City Clerk's office is doing everything it can to have residents participate.

Clerk Lisa Langmesser, who hosted an absentee ballot application event Saturday, says it doesn't take much to apply, outside of being a resident of the City of Plymouth.

"[They have to] be 18 by election day, they have to be a citizen of the United States, they must have proof of identity like a driver's license," Langmesser said.

The millages would renew both police and fire funding, while possibly adding additional personnel.

"This public safety millage is going to cover possibly hiring one to two officers, for equipment and also for the fire department," Lanmesser said. "It's a shame that people don't get out and exercise their right to vote."
