My beloved Mario Kart days expired with my Nintendo 64, but the themes thrive in the hearts and minds of the Internet as illustrated in this eye-popping video created by Corridor Digital.

Filmed and edited in 60 frames per second (fps), the ultra-sharp and smooth footage of a skateboarding man in Italian plumber Luigi garb is perfectly embellished with visuals from the classic video game franchise. On an electric-powered longboard the hero narrowly escapes enemies including Bullet Bill a spiky Thwomp, a shell projectile and expertly traverses treacherous terrain.

The guy in the Luigi costume is Wren Weichman who also happens to be the director and a VFX artist on the project. Check out this behind the scenes video to see how he made all this awesomeness happen.

Crafting video for it's subscribers and paid patrons, Corridor Digital is responsible for this amazing project. They're a team of Internet video producers including chiefly Sam Gorski, Niko Pueringer and also Jake Watson. They specialize in science fiction and video game themes and layer in loads of visual effects.

A secondary cool element of the video is the Boosted Boards the hero rides which appears to go really fast. Maybe it's special effects that make it seem that way, but even to someone who doesn't skate, it's hard not to want one.

George Fox is a Spartan, a Michigander, and Web Producer for CBS 62/CW50 in Detroit.
