Villanova's Buzzer-Beater Jenkins To Stay For Senior Season

VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — The Villanova player who hit a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to win the national championship is sticking around for his senior season.

Kris Jenkins and Villanova officials said Monday that Jenkins has withdrawn his name from NBA draft consideration.

Jenkins says on Twitter that it was a good experience to go through the process but he's looking forward to graduating next year "and becoming a great leader."

Jenkins' 3 gave the Wildcats their first title since 1985. Villanova beat North Carolina in Houston last month.

Jenkins averaged 13.6 points and 3.9 rebounds last season, while playing bigger in the Big East and NCAA tournaments. He averaged 18.5 points over Villanova's last 14 games.

Jenkins got huge cheers as Villanova went on its victory tour, including a parade in downtown Philadelphia where fans shouted at him: "One more year!"
