Victim In Fatal House Fire Is Too Badly Burned To Identify

KIMBALL TWP. (WWJ) - Authorities say one person was killed in an early morning fire that spread to three homes.

The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office said they received a 911 call around 3:20 a.m. Friday about a house on fire in the 5900 block of Ravenswood Road in Kimball Township.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames. A home to the east was heavily damaged. One car in front of that home was a total loss, while another suffered minor fire damage. Another home to the west suffered minor damage.

Several other fire departments were called to the scene and after hours of efforts, the fire was finally extinguished around 7:40 a.m.

One person was killed in the fire. No other injuries were reported.

Officials say the victim of the fire has not yet been identified because of the severity of the fire. It's not known if the victim is a male or female.

The fire remains under investigation. Authorities say they're not yet sure what caused the blaze.

Kimball Township firefighters were assisted at the scene by the Port Huron Township, Clyde Township and Memphis fire departments.
