PITTSBURGH (AP) — Justin Verlander left his start against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night after one inning with right shoulder soreness.

The former Cy Young winner gave up five runs on four hits and walked two. He threw 40 pitches and bunted in the second before he was removed.

Verlander (10-11) is scheduled to undergo an MRI in Detroit on Tuesday.
