Vehicle Crashes Into Crane In Construction Zone, Driver Killed

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities say a driver was killed when their vehicle went through a construction barricade and collided with a crane on a freeway exit ramp.

The accident happened around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday on the westbound I-94 ramp to Shook Road in Harrison Township.

A single vehicle crashed head-on into a crane that was in a construction area. Other circumstances leading up to the crash weren't immediately clear.

A 29-year-old man was killed in the crash. The vehicle is registered out of Hamtramck, but no further information on the victim was released.

It's unknown whether or not alcohol played a role in the crash.

The ramp remains closed as police continue to investigate the scene.
