Vandals Damage Headstones Dating Back To 1867 In Michigan Cemetery

ST. JOSEPH, Mich. (WWJ) - In southwest Michigan, St. Joseph Police are offering a $1000 reward for information leading to prosecution for those responsible for knocking over 34 headstones at Oaklawn Cemetery.

"Many of them are broken, are knocked off thier bases -- several of them are damaged," said Banasczak.

Deputy Police Chief Ryan Banasczak says some of those headstones date back to 1867, when the cemetery opened.

He says the cemetery was also vandalized in 2011, but the culprits were never caught.
