Van Full Of Teens Crashes On Way To High School Track Meet

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Authorities say one person was injured in an accident that involved a van full of teenagers on their way to a track meet.

The accident happened Saturday morning at the intersection of Greenfield and 13 Mile roads, near the border of Southfield and Royal Oak.

Reporting live from the scene, WWJ's Laura Bonnell said a van full of teenagers was attempting to turn onto Greenfield when their vehicle was struck broadside by a red sedan.

The driver of the sedan was injured in the collision and transported to an area hospital. Their condition is unknown.

The teenagers, all students at Royal Oak high school, were headed to a track meet at Kensington Metro Park. None were injured.

Police say it appears the sedan ran through a red light, causing the collision.

An investigation is ongoing.
