US: Prison Term For Key Figure In W.Va.-Detroit Drug Ring

WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) - A 38-year-old West Virginia man has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison for operating what the government called a Detroit-to-Wheeling drug ring.

The U.S. attorney's office says Brian Schultz of Triadelphia was sentenced Thursday after admitting his role in the distribution of prescription painkillers and cocaine.

Prosecutors say Schultz moved large quantities of drugs to a network of associates who distributed them throughout the Ohio Valley.

Besides a prison term, he was also ordered to forfeit approximately $70,000 and fined $30,000.

An associate of Schultz was also sentenced.
