US Customs Helicopter Among Aircraft Patrolling Above Flint

FLINT (AP) - A helicopter from U.S. Customs and Border Protection is now among the aircraft patrolling the skies above the Flint area.

Agency spokesman Kris Grogan tells The Flint Journal that a Customs helicopter assisted in a reported police pursuit this week. He said the agency deployed the helicopter to assist law enforcement personnel on the ground. The chase began in Burton and entered into Flint.

Grogan says the assistance isn't unusual for the agency, noting: "We do support all of our federal, state and local partners."

The Michigan State Police has regularly deployed helicopters over Flint and other cities to assist law enforcement operations on the ground. Customs and Border Protection operates its area aircraft from the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in suburban Detroit.
