U-M Football Team Adds Tough Teen From Howell To Roster

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - As the University of Michigan football team continues to roll through what's turning out to be a very successful season, some big 'roster addition' news came out of Ann Arbor.

Larry Prout, Jr., a tough 15-year-old from Howell, who has spina bifida, among other disorders, officially added to the football program's roster.

Prout has endured over 90 surgeries and hospital stays but Tuesday he got a big assist from head coach Jim Harbaugh and Team IMPACT, a non-profit based in Boston.

"We're real happy today," said Harbaugh, "our team just got bigger --we feel like we are drawing the long straw on this one to have Larry part of our team ... Welcome aboard and keep up the great work - you are an inspiration to us all."

"Thank you with all my heart for giving me this chance, " said Prout. "Go Blue!"
