UAW-Ford Funds Restoration Of Detroit Ballpark

DETROIT (AP) - Officials with the United Auto Workers and Ford Motor Co. are expected to announce details of their efforts to restore a Detroit neighborhood ballpark.

Current Detroit Tigers players Austin Jackson, Rajai Davis and Torii Hunter are scheduled to join Mayor Mike Duggan and others Saturday morning at Balduck Park.

The event includes a parade at 9:30 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. opening ceremony.

Improvements to the eastside park include the installation of bleachers, an updated scoreboard, landscaping and new restrooms. The UAW-Ford also will provide the opportunity for more than 1,000 youths to participate in sports programs.

Funding for the project is part of an ongoing relationship between UAW-Ford and Eagle Sports.
