Two Dead In Three Car Crash On Telegraph Road
LASALLE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- Two people are dead after a crash along Telegraph Road in Monroe County on Monday afternoon. Police say alcohol appears to be a factor.
The crash happened around 3 p.m. on Monday along Telegraph Road at Stein Road in LaSalle Township. The crash closed the roadway for about three hours.
Authorities say a blue Dodge Durango was traveling southbound on Telegraph Road when it crossed over the center line and struck a maroon 2009 Dodge Caravan that was traveling northbound. The blue Dodge Durango then struck a gold 2006 Chevrolet Malibu that was driving behind the Dodge Caravan northbound on Telegraph Road.
Toledo resident Jordan K. Welsh -- the driver of the Dodge Caravan -- and Erie, Mich. resident Jennifer R. Boran -- passenger in the Dodge Caravan -- were both pronounced dead on the scene. There were two other passengers in the Dodge Caravan -- both related to Boran. One of the passengers is listed in critical condition and the other is in serious, but stable condition.
Keyanna T. Austin, 22, of Toledo was driving the blue Dodge Durango that caused the crash. She was transported to St. Vincent's Hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, and is currently listed in stable condition. Police say Austin may have been under the influence of alcohol.
The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu was also transported to a nearby hospital, and is listed in stable condition.
Prior to the crash, police say they received a call from a concerned motorist about a blue Dodge Durango that was driving southbound on Telegraph Road in a "reckless manner."
This crash remains under investigation.
