2 Charged In Royal Oak Home Invasion Case
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) -- A two people believed to be involved in a Royal Oak home invasion were brought up on charges on Monday.
Calvin Parks, a 25-year-old Detroit resident was arraigned by Judge Derek Meinecke and charged with second-degree home invasion. The second suspect, a 16-year-old Hazel Park resident, was also charged with second-degree home invasion.
Because the suspect is a juvenile, his identity is being withheld by police and his case will be handled by the Oakland County Juvenile Court. Second-degree home invasion is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison or a fine of up to $3,000, or both.
Parks is currently on parole for prior felony convictions of assault with intent to do great bodily harm and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
A witness reported seeing two people get out of a tan SUV and walk up several driveways of homes in the S. Edgeworth and 11 Mile area on December 1. A Royal Oak officer quickly located the vehicle and suspects in the 300 block of N. Edgeworth.
The officers conducted an investigation and discovered the pair had kicked in the rear door to a nearby residential home. Multiple stolen items were recovered which included jewelry and an iPad.
Bond was set at $75,000, no 10 percent. Parks' next scheduled court date is set for December 19.
