Update: Tweetdeck Restored Following Security Issue

By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBSDetroit.com) - The popular Tweetdeck Twitter platform was shut down for a short time Wednesday afternoon after a "security issue" hit the website.

A third-party source hijacked business and personal TweetDeck accounts - which is a dashboard for Twitter users to manage their accounts - and then posted comments on Twitter feeds. The comments included those by users "Someone actually," "*andy" and "Louis Kielbasa" which were lines of code.

Prior to the taking the app down, TweetDeck's Twitter feed asked users to log out and log back in to apply the fix.

A  Tweet from the company stated: "We've verified our security fix and have turned TweetDeck services back on for all users. Sorry for any inconvenience."

This report was updated at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday.
