Truck Driver In Critical Condition After Crash In Belle Isle Race

DETROIT (AP) — Australian driver Matt Mingay was in critical condition at a hospital after a crash in a Stadium Super Trucks race at Belle Isle on Saturday.

The SST competition was one of the support races at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, which features IndyCar races Saturday and Sunday. Detroit Receiving Hospital spokeswoman Arielle Endelman said Mingay was at the hospital and in critical condition.

A spokesman for the Grand Prix didn't provide an update on Mingay's condition, but confirmed he was admitted to that hospital.

The remainder of Saturday's SST race was canceled after Mingay's accident.
