Troy Cop On Leave After Arrest For Drunk Driving

TROY (WWJ) - A Troy police officer is on administrative leave after he was arrested for drunk driving.

Police say the cop was off-duty when he drove into the median curb of Big Beaver Road near Rochester twice before coming to a stop in the median just after midnight on January 18.

Officers who went up to the pickup smelled a "very strong odor of alcohol" coming from the driver.

The off-duty officer refused a breathalyzer test so a search warrant was used to draw blood.

The driver had a blood alcohol content of .27, nearly three-and-a-half times the legal limit.

The case has been turned over to the Oakland County Prosecutor's office for possible charges.

An internal investigation is now underway.
