Trial To Start For Detroit Woman In Husband's Fatal Shooting

DETROIT (AP) - A Detroit woman charged in the slaying of her husband and wounding of her 8-year-old daughter is expected to face trial.

Wayne County Circuit Court records show that Jacqueline Lewis' jury trial is scheduled to begin Monday.

Lewis is charged with premeditated murder and attempted murder. She also is charged with felonious assault after a gun was aimed at her 11-year-old son.

Cornell Lewis was shot to death in February following an argument in the family's northwest Detroit home.

Premeditated murder is a form of first-degree murder and carries a mandatory penalty of life in prison without possibility of parole.
