Treetops Resort Seeking Bankruptcy Reorganization

DOVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Treetops Resort in the northern Lower Peninsula says it's seeking reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. bankruptcy law.

Operators of the golf and ski resort say they made the filing Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Bay City. Treetops Resort is in Otsego County's Dover Township, east of Gaylord.

The resort says in a statement that it "fully expects to continue normal operations throughout this process." It says the winter season is underway and it will "celebrate 60 years of skiing with extended hours all winter long."

Treetops says it is burdened with debt and expects to be able to continue to be viable once its finances go through the reorganization. It says it expects current managers to remain in place.
