Motorcycle rider killed in overnight crash on northbound I-75 at M-10

A motorcycle rider died as a result of a crash on Interstate 75 near downtown Detroit, the Michigan State Police reported.

The motorcycle was northbound on I-75 near M-10 (Lodge Freeway) when the driver of a Chevrolet Trailblazer rear-ended the bike, police said. The motorcycle operator and Chevrolet driver both lost control of their vehicles and crashed, with the Trailblazer rolling over.

The rider of the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

All northbound lanes between Rosa Parks Boulevard / Exit 49 and M-10 / John C. Lodge Freeway / Exit 49 were closed for hours, but were cleared by 7:15 a.m., according to MDOT's MI Drive site.  

The investigation is continuing.
