Traffic Alert: Westbound I-696 To Shut Down This Weekend For Construction

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - If you were planning on using I-696 this weekend in southern Oakland County, you're going to need a detour.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says westbound I-696 will be closed between Lahser Road in Southfield and I-275 in Farmington Hills from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday for concrete repair.

All entrance ramps from Lahser Road, Telegraph Road, and Orchard Lake to westbound I-696 will be closed.

Westbound I-696 traffic will be detoured onto M-10 (Lodge/Northwestern). The suggested detour is M-10 to south US-24 (Telegraph) to west 8 Mile (M-102) to west M-5 to west I-96.

MDOT says there will be one other weekend closure of I-696, to be announced at a later date.

South I-275 south remains closed through July.
