Traffic Alert: I-75 Shutting Down Saturday Morning In Oakland County

TROY (WWJ) - If you were planning to use I-75 in Oakland County this weekend, you might need a detour.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is shutting down the northbound lanes of I-75 from Crooks Road to M-59 beginning around 4 a.m. Saturday, weather permitting. The closure is expected to end by noon.

MDOT says the closure is required for crews to set bridge beams that carry northbound I-75 over Square Lake Road.

Northbound traffic will be detoured to northbound Crooks Road, then westbound M-59 back to I-75.

For safety reasons, both directions of Square Lake Road will also be closed under I-75. Eastbound Square Lake Road traffic will use northbound Adams Road to eastbound South Boulevard, then southbound Coolidge Road. Westbound Square Lake Road will be directed to northbound Coolidge Road, then westbound South Boulevard to southbound Adams Road.

In addition to the freeway closure, the following ramps will be closed:

•Eastbound and westbound Big Beaver Road to northbound I-75
•Crooks Road to northbound I-75

For the latest from the roads, stay with WWJ Newsradio 950 during Traffic and Weather on the 8s, 24-hours a day. Check for recent incidents now on the CBS Detroit Traffic Page.
